Eun Young Lee is a professional pianist and piano teacher who loves to explore the world of music and communicate with a broad range of audiences. As a musician who believes the power of music can bring joy to people's lives, she puts all her efforts into interacting with audiences and students through her music and musical knowledge.

Eun Young is an actively performing pianist both in Korea and the United States who began her musical journey by presenting her successful solo debut recital at the Kumho Art Center in Korea as a Kumho Prodigy. She went on to earn her Bachelor and Master of Music degree from Ewha Women's University in Korea and later received her Performance Diploma from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

She is a passionate pianist exploring various repertoires, including solo works, chamber music, and concertos; the concerts she performed with orchestras as a soloist include ones with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra at Hill Auditorium, the Oradea State Philharmonic Orchestra, and Ewha Women's University Orchestra. She is also a founder of Fiorire Soloists, a group comprised of virtuosic performers, created with the idea of offering more performance opportunities for young professional musicians.

Eun Young has won numerous competitions such as the American Protege Competition, Concert Artists International Virtuoso Competition, International Maestro Piano and Strings Competition, the University of Seoul National Education Competition, the Yeajin Music Competition, and the Korea Brahms Institution Competition. As a result of winning these competitions, she has performed in Carnegie Hall in New York three times.

As an enthusiastic piano teacher, Eun Young teaches a wide range of students. In addition to the experience as a Graduate Student Instructor in Piano at the University of Michigan, she has been running her private studio for more than twelve years. Her former students have succeeded in entering to Bachelor of Music program at various Universities, including the Kookmin-University and the Kyunghee University.

Eun Young graduated from the University of Michigan with her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance in 2019.  She currently continues to perform and teach students of all ages in the Michigan area.

Teaching Philosophy

As a music and piano teacher, I believe that my mission is fostering students' interest and curiosity about music while I convey my knowledge, skills, and passion in piano to them so that students can incorporate music into their lives actively. For that purpose, the basic overview of music theory and literature always take crucial parts of my teaching along with techniques and a variety of repertoires.

I have been teaching and advising beginning, intermediate, and advanced students, from children to adults, with a tailored curriculum that works the best for each student. From my experience in running a private studio for more than ten years and helping several students enter the Bachelor of Music program of diverse universities in Korea, I learned how to figure out students' strength and weakness accurately, how to efficiently help them improve their performances as well as general musical abilities.

The core of my teaching philosophy is to interact with students. I do not doubt that interaction is the key that allows a teacher to intimately communicate with students and guide them to be a well-rounded pianist; who is excellent at not only performing but also enjoying piano music.
